At the age of 15 Rob discovered B-boying (Breakdance) and soon joined the world renowned Bad Taste Cru, with whom he continues to battle and perform. Rob became interested in contemporary dance during his A-levels, before joining the degree course at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (graduating with the Carolyn Woolridge Award for outstanding performance) and eventually touring as part of the post-graduate company, Verve 16.
Throughout his professional career Rob has worked with Artists such as Anton Lachky, Renaud Wiser, Avatara Ayuso, Anthony Lo-Guidice, Josh Hawkins and most recently Robby Graham of Southpaw Dance Company.
Rob’s main artistic interests lie in the exploration of B-boy and contemporary techniques, combining both practices here to investigate and discover new and dynamic movement.
“My time with the company has been both thouroughly enjoyable and extremely rewarding. During the latter half of 2016, I had the pleasure of working across three major projects, learning, devising and collaborating with both community and professional casts. Through closely working with Robby Graham, it becomes very clear that Southpaw is a company that actively strives to engage all forms of community and audiences with dance whether that be through toured performances, large scale spectacles or site specific work. All of which, are thought provoking and entertaining. I very much look forward to working with Robby and Southpaw again in the future.”
