Catherine Johns

Catherine is working with Southpaw to review and develop the company’s strategy, business development and communications. She has a long history in encouraging innovation, applying creative thought, and pioneering new approaches to developing value propositions. She is also Innovation and Business Growth Director for Business Durham, leading on initiatives to systematically apply open innovation thinking to societal challenges, and open them up to stimulate innovative activity in the private sector.

She is a co-author of the book ‘Areas of Innovation in a Global World: Concept and Practice’, and founded the ‘Women in IASP’ global network to encourage women in innovation to connect and collaborate across the world. Catherine is the founder of Dance Ventures Ltd, which helps creative companies articulate what makes them unique, so they can attract new audiences, impress potential funders and investors, and win advocates, and is a Board Director of Generator, the UK’s leading music development agency.​
