Alicia Meehan is a performance artist based in the North East of England. Alicia trained in classical dance at Northern Ballet School then progressed on to study contemporary dance at degree level, graduating with a First Class Honors in 2011. Alicia then continued to expand her contemporary performance practice further at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, graduating in 2013 with a Masters in Creative Practice. Upon completing her vocational training she went on to work for Graduate Dance Company, Fertile Ground. Whilst a member of the company she worked with renowned choreographers Tom Dale and Eleesha Drennan and toured their works across the UK.
During her professional career Alicia has worked for Companies and Artists such as Lo-Giudice Dance, Gavin Coward, State Of Grace, Experiential Dance, The Creative Seed and Kristen Kelly Abbott Dance. Her performance experience ranges from staged theatre productions, site specific and outdoor festivals, carnivals and dance film.
Alongside her performance career Alicia also engages in outreach, educational and community projects and teaches classes and workshops within the North East, both independently and through organisations.
Alicia has been a company member of Southpaw since early 2015 and during this time has been involved in the development of the company’s productions such as Carousel, Wordplay and, most recently, Speakeasy.
